Show Notes Season 5

Season 6 Episode 02: Sound Healing, Sound Baths and the Power of Listening with Kayce Laine

What if the sounds around us could actually change how we feel?

In this episode of Let’s Talk Ladies, we’re talking about the fascinating world of sound healing, sound baths, meditation and deep listening with Nashville-based sound practitioner, musician and educator Kayce Laine.

Kayce’s work sits at the intersection of music and wellness, using sound as a way to help people slow down, listen differently and connect more deeply with themselves.

A classically trained musician who studied music at the University of Virginia, Kayce is an internationally certified sound practitioner and instructor with the Sound Healing Academy, where she trains students around the world.

Her work has taken her everywhere from Soho House and lululemon to MusiCares and The Recording Academy, and she even shared a sound bath with the cast of Season 16 of Lifetime’s Married at First Sight. Her sound healing recordings have racked up millions of Spotify streams, while her live sound bath experiences have filled venues including the Nashville Symphony and Chrysler Hall in Virginia.

But what exactly is a sound bath? And why are sound bowls suddenly everywhere?

Kayce breaks it all down.

In This Episode

We talk about:

  • Why sound — whether beautiful, annoying, loud or quiet — matters so much to our well-being
  • How sound can affect us throughout our lives, from childhood through our 40s, 60s, 80s and beyond
  • How Kayce went from musician to sound practitioner
  • What sound healing actually is — and what it isn't
  • What happens during a sound bath
  • Whether sound practitioners use sound baths and meditation in their own daily lives
  • How long sound healing has been around
  • Why sound healing is becoming increasingly popular
  • Some of the biggest misconceptions about sound healing
  • How Kayce teaches and trains other sound practitioners
  • Whether you can actually make a living as a sound healer
  • What she's learned — and what has surprised her — along the way
  • Simple ways we can use sound in our everyday lives
  • And what Kayce would tell a young woman in her 20s who is curious about this practice

Kayce is also the host of Beyond the Sounds, a podcast that explores the intersection of sound healing and entrepreneurship, and she is the founder of the Sound Healers Society, a membership community for sound practitioners.

Whether you're already a fan of sound baths or you're wondering what all the singing bowls are about, this conversation is an invitation to listen a little more closely.

Show Notes Season 5

Season 6 Episode 01: Season 6 Preview

Women, Wellness, Friendship and What We Learn From Each Other

Season 6 is here — and Let’s Talk Ladies is going on video! 🎥

We can’t wait to share what’s coming — from conversations about women, wellness, friendship and creativity to the surprising ways women of different generations learn from one another.

This season, we’ll confirm that women like sex with podcast host and NPR reporter Natasha Senjanovic, explore wellness with PJ7 founder Paige Jellison, and dive into the world of sound healing with Kayce Laine.

Are you an indoor girl or an outdoor girl? We’ll talk about that with outdoorsy powerhouse Sara Stanczyk (@Sassy.Sarastanczyk).

We’re also thrilled to share a conversation with author Julianna Glasse, whose book This Is What Happens When Women Read absolutely blew us away.

And that’s just the beginning. There’s much more coming in Season 6!

Before Season 6… Let’s Look Back

If you missed Season 5 — or simply want to revisit some favorite conversations — now is the perfect time to binge and catch up.

One of the big takeaways from making this podcast has been realizing that women never stop learning from one another.

When we started Let’s Talk Ladies, the idea was to share what women in their 50s and beyond had learned with younger women. But life doesn’t quite work that way. Younger women have to live their own lives and make their own discoveries.

And the learning goes both ways.

In business, they call it reverse mentoring. We call it women learning from women — no matter their age.

In Season 5, we heard from women across generations and backgrounds about friendship, justice, forgiveness, career changes, creativity, self-care, skincare, menopause, leadership and so much more.

We revisit some memorable moments from:

  • Janvier Christine, founder of Woogirling, on why women need female friendship.
  • Becca Stevens, founder of Thistle Farms, on young people’s desire to make the world a better place.
  • Moon Unit Zappa, on forgiveness and recognizing reality.
  • Allison Moorer, on reinventing herself professionally in her 50s.
  • Jessica Breanne, on finding joy during dark times.
  • Kathy Anderson, on gradually turning her business over to younger partners.
  • Kelly Hoey, on how networking has changed for women.
  • Stephanie Richardson, on why so many of us fear public speaking.
  • Jean Fruth, on what it takes for aspiring women to follow in her footsteps.
  • Diana Jones, with practical self-care advice for midlife and beyond.
  • Lorrie King, founder of Caire Beauty, on how skin changes during menopause.
  • Erin Piper, founder of Saint Crewe, on helping younger women find effective skincare.
  • Dawn Cunningham, host of Soul Goals, on the importance of women’s stories.

And, of course, a huge thank-you to the people behind the scenes who make Let’s Talk Ladies happen: Amy Reid, Melissa Matthews, Michael Eades and Mage at HoneyPod Studio in Nashville.
